      Why did you join PageGroup?
It was important for me to start my professional career with a strong company that encouraged growth and development. I didn’t know too much about recruitment but knew some people in the industry. I was drawn to the culture and the passion that they exuded when talking about their work. I came across Michael Page advertising for a consultant. After doing some research on the brand and meeting and interviewing with the managers I knew the PageGroup had the right culture and encouragement that I was looking for. As for the role itself, I liked the idea of a balance of face-to-face work and autonomous work at your desk.

Describe your PageGroup career so far
My time at PageGroup has gone by so fast and, looking back to when I started, I cannot believe how much I have already learnt. I have been encouraged and pushed to go above and beyond what I thought capable by some very patient and talented mentors. While recruitment can be an emotional rollercoaster ride, that’s what makes it exciting. You never know what a day is going to throw at you but no matter what you get you know that you have some awesome people working with you who have got your back. There have been no limits on my progression at PageGroup., I am given all the tools I need to succeed my brand is in my own hands.

How do you spend your time at work?
There is a nice balance to how I spend my time at PageGroup. You always have something to  do, whether you are out developing a relationship with a client, sourcing for roles, interviewing candidates, or working on L&D sessions your manager, you are always doing something that is worthwhile.

What advice do you have to others who want to join PageGroup?
PageGroup is a fantastic company to build a career with. If you are looking for a long-term career with constant growth and potential this is the place to do it. You are constantly learning ever-valuable skills alongside the top talent in the industry.

      Why did you join PageGroup?

When I graduated I didn’t know what I wanted to do, it’s the same dilemma everyone has had at some point. I did know that the company I wanted to be a part of must offer three things – training and development to prepare me for a successful road ahead; a motivated team that I could learn from and grow with; and global career progression opportunities.

PageGroup bettered my request and promised five things – a structured learning and development program that will continue throughout my career; fantastic rewards and recognition for high performance; an amazing team that’s always buzzing with energy; a promotion system based on meritocracy and organic growth; and the opportunity to take my career to the global stage with international transfer options almost anywhere in the world.
      It wasn’t a difficult decision.

Describe your PageGroup career so far

It has been absolutely incredible. My career has launched off faster than I ever thought possible. I began as a Consultant in our Property & Construction division; I remember feeling like I had absorbed more in the first 3 months than all 3 years of university put together. I fully immersed myself into the property industry right away – I built up my network and aligned myself with some great alliances in the market. I was promoted to Senior Consultant at the end of my first year and recently to Managing Consultant at the end of my second year. My team has grown and expanded during this time and I am now recognized as a specialist within the property sector. All of the things that were promised to me before I joined have been delivered. PageGroup has supported me in building a well respected personal brand and as a result, my career has rapid grown beyond my expectations.

How do you spend your time at work?

My timetable is the mix-and-match type. There’s no real logic behind my planning but I do make sure I get in everything – interviews, client meetings, networking events. It’s organized chaos.  Efficiency is really important to me so I could easily block out 3 hours working on one search assignment. Everyone works to different styles, you know what works best for you so as long as you’re delivering what you’ve promised then there’s a lot of autonomy for you to develop and personalize your desk. One thing that is consistent is that everyone here works hard and plays hard. There’s always something going on – internal functions, month-end events, overseas trainings and some pretty amazing client entertainment events.

What advice do you have to others who want to join PageGroup?

I think the 5 core values of PageGroup sums it up nicely – be passionate, take pride, work as a team, be resilient and most importantly, make it fun. Everyone will have their own ways of expressing these values because at the end of the day we’re all different. Our teams are made of members from different backgrounds, cultures and personalities – there’s no winning formula. So be exactly who you are – bring your strengths, embrace our values and let us develop the areas in your career that need a little more work.

      Why did you join PageGroup?

Having landed in New Zealand I came to meet Michael Page to discuss the Financial Services market as I had worked in the industry back in Ireland. After chatting about recruitment in that meeting I decided to pursue this as a potential career change and was convinced by the management team I met with throughout the interview process. I was impressed by the professionalism and commerciality that they displayed along with the sense of team spirit. The goal orientated, fast paced environment where you work as a team and get to meet and talk to a wide range of individuals were the elements that appealed to me the most.

Describe your PageGroup career so far

I started as a Consultant within the Finance team in Auckland in January 2013, focusing on recruiting transactional accounting and finance roles. After 18 months I was promoted to Senior Consultant and then became Manager of the Finance team in September 2015. I now specialise in recruiting mid to senior level finance professionals along with managing the team. Along he way I have received excellent mentorship and guidance from my peers and our management team along with a first class Learning & Development programme that assists you throughout your career.

How do you spend your time at work?

My day normally consists of a blend of meeting and talking to clients, interviewing and screening candidates, and working on a portfolio of different jobs while constantly being on the lookout for opportunities in our market. I also work closely with my team to help them achieve team and personal goals. Every day is different at Michael Page and on any given day you can be out on the road meeting clients, in interview rooms meeting candidates, getting involved in internal meetings or at your desk taking care of a variety of tasks.

What advice do you have to others who want to join PageGroup?

PageGroup is a great place for driven individuals to progress their careers and have fun while doing so. If you work hard and show dedication you will be supported all the way in our business and will be given all the training and tools needed to be a success. This gives you a unique opportunity to progress your career quickly and gain huge amounts of commercial experience while meeting and working with great people who you can learn from every day.

    • Callum Massie

      Callum Massie

      Why did you join PageGroup?

I joined PageGroup with very limited knowledge and understanding of what the recruitment industry actually was, although what seemed to tick the right boxes for me was the career opportunity the business provided. The business allowed you to progress at your own rate and have no limit as to how quickly you could develop, this combined with the Global Opportunities was all it took for me to realise it was the right step in my career.

Describe your PageGroup career so far

I joined PageGroup as an Associate Consultant in Nottingham, UK recruiting across the East Midlands for all Food Manufacturing business in their Engineering function. In my first year I was promoted to Consultant and then Senior Consultant after successfully tackling the FMCG sector. After being in the UK for almost 4 years I was becoming ready to return home to Auckland and was given the opportunity to transfer home and begin my career at PageGroup New Zealand in the beginning of 2016. I am now part of the Property and Construction team in Auckland and looking forward to seeing what the future brings.

How do you spend your time at work?

My time is spent at work meeting with both candidates and clients, aiming to build up my network and relationships with key individuals in the Construction industry across New Zealand.

What advice do you have to others who want to join PageGroup?

PageGroup is a business where you get out of it what you put in, so if you are willing to work hard and want to create a career then this is the best place to start, and we also make sure it’s a lot of fun along the way.

Cure Kids

Cure Kids purpose is simple: every single day, their researchers are driven to find the cures for life-threatening illnesses that affect many children. They focus on raising funds so that vital medical research can continue until researchers find the cures kids need. Put simply, they fund the cures, they find the cures.

International transfers

View the profiles of some of our international transfers to find out why our global presence makes us a great company to work for.
David Slater UK - Canada

I joined Michael Page Sales in 2006 as a consultant. Interestingly I didn't join (as many do) with the intentions of working internationally... it's funny how things pan out when the right opportunity presents itself.

Last year I had an internal discussion about the growth potential and the obstacles to overcome in our Canadian business. I'm now director of Michael Page Sales, Marketing and Technology in Toronto. It's still early days with plenty to accomplish but I already feel that I've learned so much. I'm excited about what lies ahead and it's clear that it was the 'right time', despite me not knowing it only a few months ago!

Alena Salakhova Russia - USA

One of the reasons I joined PageGroup in 2009 was the opportunity to gain international experience. After five years I knew I could stay or challenge myself somewhere new.

I am still a very young director and people in Russia consider my relocation to San Francisco Bay Area (the most developed area for new business development and start ups and an incredible place to live) as amazing.

The one thing I would say if you want to progress your career internationally – don’t be afraid to chase for it and make your dreams come true.

Denis Daniliuc France - Mexico

I joined in France as a consultant and progressed to manager level before applying for an international move and I was given the opportunity to move to New York. Heading back to Europe, I joined our office in Brussels to take over various disciplines in Belgium. After a few years, good results and a baby, I moved to Mexico City to grow our operations in this dynamic country.

I enjoy the nice weather and amazing weekend trips this beautiful country offers. If you want to develop professionally and enjoy a strong international network, PageGroup is definitely the place to be!

Aaron Bambrick Australia - Canada

I started at PageGroup on the graduate programme in 2008 and before transferring to Houston I recruited in the mining, oil and gas sectors in Brisbane. Transferring internationally can do a lot for your career but it’s also a big challenge.

Having worked in both the Australian and US oil and gas markets I have now transferred to Calgary to help open the office here and establish a local presence for Michael Page in Western Canada. Calgary is a beautiful city only an hour from the Rocky Mountains and the market is similar to that of Australia in a lot of aspects. Calgary presents a significant opportunity for Michael Page and gives us an integrated North American oil and gas team.

Jamie Hart UK - Sweden

I joined Michael Page in 2000 in London and in 2014 it felt the right time to explore international opportunities.

Learning something new about yourself and other people, learning new ways of recruiting in different markets has always been the main driver behind my attachment to PageGroup. Moving to Sweden has taken this to a whole new level.

The trust placed in you when you move abroad is inspiring, realising how much there is to learn gives you extra energy and living in a different environment positively challenges you professionally and personally. Now I won’t look back when I am old and wonder ‘if only’...

Marco Cremonese Italy - Germany

I started in Page Personnel Milan in 2009 as a trainee and became a senior consultant in the Retail division in 2010. In 2012 I took over the Digital & New Media specialisation and in October 2013 I became a manager.

I was happy in Milan but I wanted to experience meeting new people and working in a new division. I also wanted to develop personally.

I now work for Michael Page Finance & Accounting in Munich – of course it is a hard challenge and a new start, but it is a wonderful experience. I´m happy about the opportunity that PageGroup gave me.

Giovanni Presti Italy - Turkey

I was one of the top performers in Europe and won a trip to Istanbul. I didn’t know then but a year later the company, in response to my desire for international experience, was going to propose Turkey as my next chance to develop.

I am growing a new team in Istanbul, a wonderful city in a country where the culture is different from Italy but where there is a lot of energy in people and life. With PageGroup there are opportunities to learn about new cultures and live the experience.

Katherine Karlsen UK - South Africa

South Africa is very different from the UK, there are certain aspects of employment policy I had to overcome, but I find this makes it more exciting and it gave me a challenge. Johannesburg is known as the 'City of Gold' – as the gateway to Africa it provides you with further exposure to an emerging market. It really is an exciting place to recruit.

There is a great atmosphere in the office. The teams are motivated, passionate and diverse. There is a true sense of PageGroup culture here, with the added twist of South Africa.

Tamara Boonstra Netherlands - Indonesia

I was interested in the idea of international opportunities within the Group so started applying for a transfer. News came that the business was being launched in Jakarta, so I applied, got the job and moved here in January.

The best bit about moving is that it has taken me completely out of my comfort zone. I’m learning about a new culture and how to adapt in all sorts of situations – personally and professionally. Moving is definitely worthwhile. It has opened my mind and my eyes and given me space to explore and develop.

Simone Turola Italy - China

China is very different to Europe and the initial impact can be strong. It is important to have an open mind and see things with interest, curiosity and a sense of humour. Everyday can be a surprise, from the food to a new word that helps you in daily life to a new place to visit or a new person to meet.

I don’t know how many other companies can offer this level and variety of international opportunities; it’s a chance to build your future success. My only regret is that I should have done this earlier!
